Ok, so lets talk about this little guy. Graham. Almost 2. Infectious Smile. Fuzzy Head. Lover of "Wall-E". And a terrible two year old.
Okay, so he's not terrible. But he has entered the phase of life where independence and personal expression have kicked in. The ever-extremist shows his emotions in big ways. When he is unhappy about something, watch out! It's not so much that the temper tantrums are out of control and violent, they are just long. And only GRAHAM decides when they're over. NO amount of bribery or love can convince him "everything will be alright." At one moment he's super pissed off. The next he's smiling ear to ear. His mood makes a 180. On and off just like a light switch.
During the 20 to 30 minutes of utter unhappiness he is usually screaming. Not crying -screaming. If we are at home, he'll remove himself from the room and scream on Brode's bed. If we are not at home, it is usually face down on the ground somewhere. Soccer Games. North Park Mall. Arboretum. Anywhere, everywhere.
But we love him all the same. Graham's vocabulary is huge. Daddy's better at decoding his cute little words then me. Some of our favorite words are : "Wah-Gee", for Wall-E, "mohn" for more. It's never just Brode, it's "Broooo-de."
Graham has the cutest little quirks too. Once he is rescued from his bed, he wraps his arms around you and says, "theeerrreeee", such relief is felt. In the morning he shouts out to his Daddy in the sweetest little voice, "Daaaaadda, Daaaaaadda," doesn't cry. Just repeats his dad's name over and over until someone gets him. He wakes up so happy! Graham loves to dance - if there's music, he's dancing. At the park, Mommy must keep her distance. He likes to do things on his own; figure things out by himself. If I get too close, he stops dead in his tracks. He loves his blankets. Daddy makes him a "puppy bed" in his crib to get him to lay down. (his blankets spread out and he lays on it). Loves buckles. Loves his hat and always wears it backwards.
A personal time out to deal with his frustration,
while at the mall. Lasted 16 minutes.
Screaming, again, because he can't have Brode's soccer ball during soccer practice.
Lasted 21 minutes.
HAPPY!

When he is mad he wants everybody to know he's mad!!!! I can't believe it takes him that long to get it out of his system. At least he is learning to do it own his own. Still the most beautiful child, you can't help but love him! Thanks for the blog sweetheart, I just love it!!!!!
That is crazy! What a cute little guy, hopefully soon he will figure everything out so that he doesn't need so long to get his frustration out of his system.
You've done such a great job of describing this sweet child. It is so hard to be two! The photos of his temper tantrums really tell the story well -- especially the one at the mall. You are lucky the tantruming doesn't include more histrionics. What I think is significant is the times he is so happy and pleasant. We can see if time proves me right but I'd guess the tantrums are related to his age and the sweetness and happiness are the lasting indicators of his personality. (I've just been lecturing on personality this week so it is definitely on my mind. :)
