Our Sweet Growing Boys

Today Brode and Graham had there 2 year and 4 month checkups with their Pediatrician. They are both doing really well. Brode is in the 80Th Percentile for weight and the 95Th for height (no surprise there). Our sweet little Graham is in the 50Th for weight (hallelujah) and the 35Th for height. The poor thing is going to be the runt of the family I think.

I can not believe how fast my boys are growing. They are constantly changing. Graham is discovering new things everyday and puts up with the torment he receives from his older brother. Brode is definitely entering the "terrible twos'. His temper is getting worse and worse by he minute and uses his head and any hard surfaces as his outlet. I can for see a permanent purple bump on his forehead for the next few months. His pediatrician says that it is nothing to worry too much about, as long as he is not going to crack his head open. She suggested that when he gets into his fits and throws himself down on the floor, we need to just walk the other way, continue our conversation, or whatever it was we were doing. The fits on the floor are not only a way for him to release his frustration but they are also a way to get attention. Normal, she says.

I can not tell you how frustrating it is watching your sweet son bang his head into walls, the floor, chairs, cupboards, and tables. It gets even more frustrating and embarrassing when he does this in the store or with family and friends. They just watch me in disbelief, like "how can you let your child do this. Aren't you concerned?" Well I am concerned and the best thing to do is ignore his behavior, but praise him when he stops, and eventually he will get the idea that hurting himself only gets him a bruise and a headache.
