We're Back!!

Micah and I had an amazing trip to Dallas. We had great food, got lots of rest and really familiarized our selves with the area.

SMU is just north of downtown Dallas, in an area known as the Park Cities. It is such a gorgeous area. President George Bush actually lives around that area and the Dallas Temple is close by too. Loads of tall beautiful trees and old huge houses. We checked out the real estate out in the suburbs and decided that if we chose to go to school there, it be best to live close to campus. The commute for Micah would be terrible. So we found an amazing apartment, with reasonable rent just 2 miles south of the SMU campus and about 7 miles north of downtown Dallas and it has a pool for those hot summer months. On top of that there is a quaint shopping area just one block south with our favorite Mexican food Chuy's and a walking trail just next to the apartment complex that stretches from Downtown to SMU. Could this be any more perfect?????

Actually Yes it could. We fell in love with this city, the school and the area around the school. Every place we ate (well, with the exception of 1), we loved and went back for a 2nd try. The people are so friendly, the ward we'd be in is awesome and extremely welcoming, and the weather was amazing as well. One important question echoed in our minds the entire trip...... how would we afford this school. It is so expensive. We questioned whether or not it would be a good decision to take out so many school loans to pay for tuition and living expenses. Well, when we got home our questions were answered. Micah has been offered an amazing scholarship to SMU that is renewable every year as long as he maintains good standing at the university. It is not a full ride, but it definitely gives us a whole lot to think about.

No decision has been made. But we are definitely leaning towards SMU.

Hi, I happened across your blog from the feedjit blog roll. I was in Micah's ward before he left on his mission. My husband's family is from The Dallas Fort Worth area and we lived there for a few years. The heat does get a bit miserable in the summers, but it really is a nice place to live. Good luck with your decision!
