Father's Day FrEnZiE!!!

Micah's sister, Cassie and her neighbor, put on a Father's Day Frenzie every year for some of the dads in their neighborhood. A "man" olympics of sorts. Obviously we don't live in the neighborhood, but we have connections. The past two years, Cassie has extended an invitation to Micah, I think to add some youth to the group of Daddies.

So a couple weeks ago, on a Saturday, we left the boys home with my Mom and headed over for all the competing sweaty fun. The weather was pure crap on this day. Rained the entire time and poured for a portion of the Frenzie. This however did not affect the Dads. They competed in a Relay Race which involved dressing a baby-doll, setting up a stroller, strapping the doll into the stroller, putting on a skirt and shirt and running a short distance while pushing the baby. So funny. They also played Kick Ball, Find your Herd (a game where the guys were split up into five groups, given an animal, blind folded and then spread out, only to find their herd by making the noise of that animal, quite fun to watch and somewhat humiliating for them),
Football throwing competition, a T or F Trivia Game, and a few others. The last event, the one that my Micah likes to brag that he is the ultimate at, was the Food Eating Contest. This year they had to eat a small dixie cup of vanilla ice cream with no hands. The ice cream had to sit on the ground and they had to eat it off the ground. Micah seriously ate his in less than 10 seconds. Ridiculous!! Not sure how he did it. Fathers Day 2008, he won the Food Eating Contest too, and that go round was a Maple Bar. Again, wow!

So Cassie and her neighbor keep track of the scoring and at the end of the day the guys of a Award Ceremony. There is a $20 registration fee, which is used to buy all the loot for the guys. The loot is anything a guy could dream of: Driving Range Passes, a GPS, tools, Portable DVD Player, the list goes on. They make sure to have one thing for each guy who registers. So during the ceremony, they start with 1st Place and call the name of the guy and he gets to have first pick on the loot. Of course the super hot ticket items
go first. Micah came in 4Th an chose super nice Walkie-Talkies. We have had this on our list of stuff to buy before our "big move". So it worked out perfect. Everyone really goes away a winner.

Of course food is involved. Before the events begin, everyone dives into the potluck provided by all the wives. It is a fun way to celebrate, humiliate, and love our Dads/ Husbands. We enjoyed the 2 years we were able to go and are sorry we wont make it to the next ones. Here's some pictures of Micah's Father's Day Frenzie...

Proof.
The river of water was not there when we began the days events.
Man it poured!
In this picture all the competing dads are standing in a line to receive
orders for the next challenge and receive their groups assignments.
Tug of War.
Of course Micah's team kicked the other 3 teams' butts.
He knew he'd have this event in the bag.

Ice Cream Eating Contest.
Micah is practically done with his ice cream and the whistle
just blew to start the event. How he did it? I am not sure.

I was so glad to have this special day to celebrate the special Daddy in my life. Seriously Micah is the greatest Dad in the world. He loves to snuggle and play. And after he has to discipline his boys, he hugs them and kisses them and tells them how much he loves them. He is more nurturing then me at times. I love how devoted he is to his boys and how excited he gets when he gets home to see them. It's no wonder Graham prefers his Dad to me. I prefer Micah. I love him so much and I am so glad he chose me to create a family with him.
