Unpacking and the Killer Bird

So now that we are finally in our new place (courtesy of the Schouman's, our friends/landlords) and done watching everyone else's kids, we were finally able to spend some time unpacking.  Yesterday morning we were getting a lot done, and Micah noticed a rustling noise coming from the chimney.  He determined it must have been a bird, and thought about a plan of action while we went out running errands.

By the time he got home he decided that he was going to smoke it out.  So he got a bunch of newspaper and a lighter and was getting ready to light the fireplace/stove for the first time.  He barely cracked the door though and saw the bird looking right at him!

Anyone who knows Micah knows that just about any animal gives him the heeby-jeebies.  So the thought of a wild, caged bird escaping and pecking his eyes out did not suit him very well.  Give him credit though, he decided to man up and catch it and release it (even though his wife had to convince him of the fact that catching would be easier than burning it!)

So to make a long story short, the bird is flying free, but not without a little drama during the catch.  See for yourself!  Also, the flying bird inspired Micah to try a whole new game with Brode.  Needless to say we are making memories (and videos) at our new home and are totally loving it!
