One of the best investments we've ever made is purchasing a family pass to the Dallas Zoo. We can park and get in any time for free, and "Winter" in Dallas is the perfect time to go. The Zoo is huge, so we usually do half of it in one trip and the other of the next time.
We went to the "Wild's of Africa" at the beginning of December. That's were you see lions, cheetahs, elephants, and gorillas - amongst other things.
*As always, double-click the pictures to see them close-up*
Any good trip to the Zoo begins and/or ends with a ride on the carousel.
The boys checking out the monkey with "the purple bum-bum."
THE Safari Jeep. Pretty much a mandatory 20-minute stop every time we go. It backs up to the cheetah exhibit, and they put meat in the back of the jeep, which is enclosed in glass. The cheetahs come up and eat right in front of you. Pretty cool. Brode and Graham couldn't care less about animals when they are driving though!
One of our favorite things to do is see the giraffes. $5 gets you a bunch of lettuce to feed them. Here is Brode in action.
Graham is a sucker for long grass, sticks, and leaves. He loves them so much....
He decided to share his "sticks" with the giraffes!
Then today we saw the other half of the zoo. At about two hours per trip, its a nice diversion for the boys. They run around a lot too, which makes for tired little puppies come bedtime! =) Today was absolutely BEAUTIFUL - 72 degrees, partly cloudy, light breeze. We didn't even have to put pants on!
Graham, speaking to the fishies: "Nemo. NEMO! Come....here....Nemo!"
Brode studied his map carefully in search of the elusive Rhino. He was soooo happy when we found him!

That's Brode up at the top. Beneath him are an albino alligator and a regular old green alligator. A third one is swimming in the little pond.

Tired boy at the end of the trip. He actually asked to go home and take a nap!

This looks like so much fun! I'm glad you go again and again. I think there is lots of value in revisiting an experience rather than trying to get it all in with just one visit. I think your boys are learning lots of valuable information each time they go. And, how nice that you can take advantage of the beautiful weather! Happy New Year to the Kormylos!
